I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler YJ for sale. I’ve had the jeep for over 12 years. It’s come from stock to what you see here in that time. I know I am going to regret selling it, but we need the money for home improvements.
The odometer has about 140,000 miles on it, but that is basically just on the body. Runs, drives, shifts fine. It goes great on most terrain. I’ve had it in mud where it goes great, but where it has spent most of it’s time is crawling over rocks and climbing dirt hills. It is road legal in NY but hasn’t been registered in 3 years. It drives OK there, about as good as a jeep on 40s can. I have a clean and clear title in hand. The jeep was converted to its current 1-ton state in 2008. It is ready to go wheelin today.
Details:
Engine: 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L V-8 with the factory fuel injection and accessories. The Power steering pump has been converted to a Saginaw style with a factory bracket from a Dodge van. The radiator is a large 2 core aluminum from an Explorer with a V-8.
Transmission: Also from the 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is a 46RH that is a 3-speed plus overdrive. It is the heaver duty one that dodge also used in there 3/4 ton trucks. It has a plate style cooler mounted in the grill.
Transfer Case: This is a Dane 300 straight out of a 80s Jeep CJ. It has been flipped upside down to work with the front axle. There is a NP231 D.D. Machine crawl box in between the transmission and Dana 300. With both low ranges engaged it gives you a 7.15:1 ratio. There is a custom triple shifter inside to control them. With that shifter you can independently control each axle enabling front digs and 2wd low range. The rear drive shaft is a Tom Woods unit and the front is custom made solid shaft.
Rear Axle: This is an Eaton axle from a 60s Chevy Truck. It is the predecessor to the 14 Bolt. It has a drop out third member with 4.56 gears and large axle shafts. It has been converted over to disc brakes using 1/2 ton Chevy parts. The removable rear cover has been replaced with 3/8” steel and it has been shaved for ground clearance. The spider gears have been welded to lock it up.
Front Axle: Dana 60 out of a 79 F-350. This was completely rebuilt with all new bearings, seals, Spicer u-joints, and king pins when it was installed. It also has 4.56 gears and welded spiders. It has the strong Spicer lock outs. The shafts are stock F-350 units. The brakes are also the stock twin piston calipers from the Ford. The Differential cover has been fortified with 1/4” plate on the bottom half over the 1/8” factory cover. The factory Ford knuckles have also been braced with 1/4” plate.
Brakes: As stated the front brakes are the stock 79 F-350 setup and the rears are converted to disc using 80s Chevy 1/2 ton front parts. The hard lines were all replaced during the one ton conversion with braided lines at the axles. The vacuum booster and 1.6” bore master cylinder are from a 94 Chevy 3/4 ton.
Steering: Consists of the previously mentioned Saginaw pump that has been modified for more pressure and flow. The 4-bolt box is rebuilt one with a bigger bore and tapped for ram assist. The ram is a surplus center 1.5” unit mounted to the tie rod. The tie rod is sleeved for strength and has Chevy 3/4 ton tie rod ends mounted to the factory location on the knuckles. The drag link also uses Chevy 3/4 ton ends to connect a Waggoner pitman arm to a custom high steer arm. There is also a tube style cooler in the grill.
Suspension: The front is reversed Jeep Cherokee XJ leaf springs with a second main leaf added. The front shocks are in custom mounts. The rear is also reversed Jeep Cherokee XJ leaf springs with a Sams Off-Road style traction bar and custom mounted shocks. The wheel base is stretched to about 102” from the stock 93”.
Tires: The tires are 39.5” Interco Iroks mounted on re-centered double beadlock Hummer wheels. The wheels have 3/8” plate centers and 1/4” rock rings. The runflats were replaced with plastic beadlock inserts. The tires are in good shape with plenty of tread but they do have some rock rash.
The frame is also in good shape. There is a full skid under the engine, transmission and transfer cases. The body is in pretty good shape with a few dents and rust spots, but no holes. The Cage is the stock one with HREW additions. It has been laid on its side and held up great. The seats are out of a late model Chevy and are quite comfy. They are mounted securely to the cage. There is a rear seat but it is tight. The fuel tank has been raised up into the floor in a custom made enclosure to ensure safety. There is also a grill protector integrated with the winch mount.
There is a spare bald 39” Bogger on a steel wheel included. Also included is a 2-piece hard top and sliding upper doors. The top is not in great condition but it is a top.
The jeep has not been used much the past couple years and could use some sprucing up like fluids and touch -up painting, but is mechanically ready to go. There is no winch included with the jeep but it is set-up for either an up right Warn 8247 or regular bottom mount.
